Living in a pink fever dream, and we LOVE it.
The world is in a fashion frenzy over the Barbie Movie press looks - and rightly so - Margot Robbie hasn't missed. Stylist Andrew Mukamal has successfully transformed Margot Robbie into the IRL Barbie we all deserve. Serving look after look, Mukamal has taken inspiration from iconic and lesser-known dolls, to deliver a press tour filled with high-impact style and nostalgic moments that had us wishing we were Barbie girls in a Barbie world.
As the cast descended on Leicester Square for the European premiere of the Barbie movie (only a nifty 20 minutes from our new pop-up store! Barbie would approve of a shameless plug, we're sure!) Margot Robbie donned a regal fit befitting of a British venue. Inspired by the 1960s Enchanted Evening doll, Robbie’s powdery-pink Vivienne Westwood gown was Barbie-fied with white opera gloves and a giant pearl choker. If that wasn’t enough to satiate our red-carpet appetite, Margot sent us into a fashion coma with a can’t-stop-won’t-stop staring mini dress that we are yet to recover from.
If like us you can’t get enough of Barbie-mania but still want to be a sustainable Queen (or King!) then sit back, as we have preloved picks, perfect to create your IRL Barbie persona. Follow in the arched footsteps of Margot Robbie and take a look at our Luxe Collective faves inspired by the Barbie press tour.
Kicking off the Barbie press tour at a photo call in LA, Margot set the tone for this historic press tour. Wearing a hot-pink Valentino mini dress with a retro polka dot print, Robbie perfected the look with white Manolo Blahnik pumps and a yellow Valentino Rockstud bag.
The whole styling was reminiscent of a Malibu Barbie with signature Barbie pink and sunshine-bright accessories. To recreate this look, we would choose this canary yellow Chanel Candy bag, styled with metallic Balenciaga stiletto pumps.
Margot and Murkamal nailed the brief for the first press event down under. Looking like perfection in the Sydney sunshine, Margot wore a Hervé Leger bodycon dress to reference the original 1959 Barbie doll. Finished with Manolo Blahnik mule pumps and white sunglasses - Margot was pure monochrome magic.
Achieve the same look without the (dreaded) bodycon with these preloved monochrome accessories. Starting with Sophia Webster heeled sandals, they hit the retro vibe with polka dots and on-trend metallic details. Bottega Veneta Acro rubber tote bags look like they were made for Barbie and are perfect to throw in all the essentials for the beach to the bar. The OG wouldn't be complete without the signature white shades, so these preloved Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses are perfect.
Taking a brief interlude from Barbie dolls, Margot took sartorial inspiration from the most-Barbiesque era - the 1990s.
Margot chose archival Versace pieces that transported us to the era of the super supermodel. For the day look, Margot wore a pink jumper, frosted pink metallic skirt and sock-and-loafer combo. Not only was this completely on brand but they were the exact pieces worn by Christy Turlington for the FW/94 Versace campaign - wild! If that wasn't enough supermodel for one day, Margot stunned in a vintage pink metal-like mini dress worn by Claudia Schiffer.
Metallics are having a moment and this is set to continue into Autumn 23. If you want to jump on this Barbie moment, this rare, mermaid Chanel 2.55 bag is the ultimate accessory or this cute mini Lady Dior in silver. For the ultimate Barbie shoe, it has to be the Versace Medusa Aevitas platform in pewter.
The LA Premiere took us right back to the Barbie references, with a 'Solo in the Spotlight' inspired Schiaparelli look that set a more sophisticated tone. Effortlessly elegant, Margot Robbie radiated glamour with a diamond choker necklace, opera gloves and those Manolo Blahniks. We love the idea of creating a more wearable moment inspired by the Schiaparelli gown. The Prada 2000 Re-Edition embellished with silver rhinestones, mimics the sequin shine of the gown perfectly.
These preloved Christian Louboutin peep toe bow mules will give you the iconic Barbie arched foot. Styled with a crisp white tee and straight-leg jeans and you have a totally sparkly, modern Barbie moment.
It was a shame to see the press tour come to a halt, but Margot's final premiere look left us sweet. Quintessentially Barbie, the marshmallow-pink Vivienne Westwood gown brought the 1960s Enchanted Evening doll to life.
Accessorised with an oversized pearl choker, crystal-embellished Manolo mules and tulle shawl, the fit gave regal, elegant, old-school beauty.
Now a Westwood gown may be a little out of reach - just a little - but preloved accessories can help add that touch of elegance. Chanel is the first to come to mind, and this powdery-pink Chanel 19 bag is reminiscent of the pretty-pink Barbie aesthetic. Lady-like in name and nature, the Lady Dior Mini is subtle and refined paired with Amina Muaddi mules, and you're practically Barbie herself.
