This International Women’s Day we celebrate our electric team of intelligent, inspiring, talented (the list is endless) women, who are integral to Luxe Collective, alongside, the female fashion trailblazers of the century. Take a look at our favourite female-founded brands and our Luxe Gals' favourite pieces.
Arguably the most well-known fashion designer - regardless of gender - Coco Chanel’s legacy has stood the test of time. Chanel, herself, was the true definition of avant-garde; breaking down the stereotypical 'masculine-feminine' norms in both fashion and business. A true visionary, Chanel changed the landscape for modern women. The eponymous fashion house continues to be a leading purveyor of style, with Chanel bags being some of the most covetable items in the world; and a favourite amongst the Luxe Collective team.
Okay, okay. We know that Versace was founded by her brother Gianni, but there is no world where we wouldn’t include Donatella Versace in our line-up. Powering through adversity to continue her brother’s legacy, Donatella has driven Versace to astronomical heights. A cultural icon, Donatella creates a world that celebrates and empowers women to embrace their womanhood. Whether it be sexy sky-high heels, mini skirts, or powerful moto biker pieces, Versace is a uniform for bold women.
Let’s talk about Chloé - specifically founder Gaby Aghion. Aghion reinvented the fashion scape by introducing the concept of ready-to-wear to the haute streets of Paris and the world. Chloé celebrates free-spirited, romantic femininity, which is intrinsically cool - much like Aghion herself. Her gift for "recognising talent in others" extended to greats like Karl Lagerfeld, who designed for the house in the 1970s and 1990s. Aghion's legacy for nurturing talent and empowering women has continued through the appointment of multiple female designers as Creative Director. We're talking stellar British talent like; Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, Hannah MacGibbon & Claire Waight Keller, all taking the helm of the luxury brand.
A true visionary when it comes to ethical fashion, Stella McCartney is a force to be reckoned with. As a lifelong vegetarian and advocate for sustainability, McCartney has never used leather, furs, feathers or skin since the inception of her namesake house in 2001. Her ethical ethos has led to exciting material innovation to bypass traditional, unsustainable fabric use. This innovation led McCartney to create the first-ever luxury handbag made from mycelium (we know it simply as mushroom leather) - pretty epic. There is no doubt Stella McCartney has made an indelible mark on the luxury fashion space, showing us that luxury fashion shouldn't cost the earth.
We asked our team of remarkable women for their must-have designer pieces. After much deliberation, here is our Luxe Gals' designer wish list...
