With Spring right around the corner, the days are about to stay lighter for longer, and according to the SS25 runways, so too is our clothing. Insights from Tagwalk show that sheer has become a key fabric in every season since SS21, following a post-pandemic desire to embrace sartorial liberation. While last year saw sheer skirts at the forefront of the fashion zeitgeist (remember Alaïa RTW Spring 2024?), see-through dressing made a powerful comeback for SS25 - proving that transparency is not just a trend. LaQuan Smith, Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney played with skin and texture, showcasing strikingly sheer cut-out lace dresses. Meanwhile, Sportmax, Paloma Wool and Loewe took a softer approach, reimagining the fabric through delicate pastel silhouettes and structural floral gowns.

Translucent tailoring may not be the most practical, but there is no reason why the fabric should be confined to the runways.
